Pate's Grammar School
Pate's was founded in 1574. Prior to 1986 the school was split into separate schools for Girls and Boys and it is the only co-educational grammar school in the county. It is also the only grammar school in Cheltenham. Pate's select the top 150 applicants each year. Pates will only take pupils from the top 200 performing applicants in the admissions test.
The potential new process states that children in care and those who qualify for the pupil premium will be promoted in the ranking system.


Sir Thomas Rich
Sir Thomas Rich's
Sir Thomas Rich’s school is for boys only and is based in Longlevens in Gloucester. It was founded in 1666 and is known locally as Tommies. When the test has been marked pupils will be informed as to whether they have attained a high enough mark to apply to the school. Attaining the pass mark does not guarantee a place.


The Crypt School
The Crypt School
Crypt is a boys grammar school situated in the Podsmead area of Gloucester. The school admits 140 boys a year. The school has a mixed 6th form.
When the test has been marked pupils will be informed of their score which has been standardised with Crypt's own criteria.
The school is considering plans to admit girls in to year seven from September 2018 and increase the admissions to 150.


Marling School
Marling School
A boys only grammar school situated in Stroud it admits 150 boys a year. The school is situated next to the Stroud High School for girls and shares some of its facilities.


High School for Girls Gloucester
High School for Girls Gloucester
It is a girls only school with a mixed 6th form. It admits 116 girls to its year 7.
The school is situated on Denmark road in Gloucester where it has been for over 100 years. The school has links with the Sir Thomas Rich's school and they hold joint discos for years 7 and 8. The schools also share some exchange trips. When the test has been marked pupils will be informed as to whether they have attained a high enough mark to apply to the school. A score high enough to apply does not guarantee a place.


Ribston Hall

Ribston is a girls grammar situated on the Stroud road in Gloucester. Ribston Hall has a mixed sixth form. The school admits 120 girls to its year 7.
When the test has been marked pupils will be informed as to whether they have attained a high enough mark to apply to the school.


Stroud High School
Stroud High School
Stroud High School is a girls only grammar. It admits 150 girls to year 7.
Stroud High shares some of its facilities with Marling School and they have a joint sixth form.
